It's the month of love...so you better get ready to finish up our wedding series. Tonight's post is all about the details. While most people say, "Choose the things that matter the most to focus on." it was hard for us because we're so sentimental. Everything mattered. We wanted to make sure every guest felt loved and everyone in our brigade felt appreciated. We wanted to share our story in every aspect of the day, even in the tiniest detail.
For our brigade, we wanted to gift them something personal but also practical. Because of the chilly weather, we gave the ladies scarves that they could wear to keep them warm during the ceremony. We paired that with handmade makeup pouches that were filled with rose gummy bears, aromatherapy towelettes, and earrings. For the boys, nothing calms the nerves more than an old fashioned kit, a mini glass of whiskey (can't get too rowdy before the ceremony), and a tie to show off their personal style and finish off their looks.
It's funny planning your own wedding. Especially when you have that Type A / Control Freak personality. But with great friends, an awesome team of vendors, and a lot of print outs of timelines, layout mockups, family photo lists... somehow I became a stress-free bride. I think the mentality of "You've planned as much as you can. Now just trust and let it go. Enjoy this." was my mantra the whole weekend. The mellow folk music playing all day probably helped too.
TOUCHES OF US
They say your wedding should be about you. And I can honestly say, every detail had some sort of nod to us and our relationship. From foraging pine cones for our guests' name cards to the URSA FINE bears nestled around twinkle lights at our sweetheart table. You could see us and our story everywhere. Our obsession for chai tea lattes and doughnuts were evident on our dessert table. And the drinks addressed the question we were asked for years. The flower arrangements were wild. And the pops of gold and copper were like flashes of starlight. There were hand drawn galaxies on every table and at every setting laid a menu designed by us and a dip dyed napkin that each had their individual beauty. It was perfect blend between ease and extravagance, a party in the woods under a night full of stars.
